Yoga-Boxing classes for isolated and vulnerable seniors
Our Yoga Boxing project addresses a dual, unmet social need that is highly relevant today: access to physical activity for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged seniors, and the social connection facilitated by this activity.
Since 2021, NOUR has been offering yoga-boxing classes to people experiencing exile, women who have experienced violence, and the general public, and, since 2023, to vulnerable and isolated seniors. This project has been a great success, and our partners (senior clubs, community centers, and senior fairs) have highlighted the positive impact of this activity. Feedback from participants reveals a rapid increase in self-confidence and assurance, both in terms of independence and in their social interactions. Above all, these classes have introduced a fun and engaging dimension to physical activity.
Through the practice of Yoga-Boxing, our goal is for seniors to rediscover the pleasure of physical activity, have fun discovering a new and playful discipline, and overcome the image of "fragility" and self-censorship often present among isolated and vulnerable seniors.
Nous présenterons notre activité de Yoga-Boxe sur notre stand.
